About Sarah

I am Senior Editor at Pink Fish Press where I edited the memoir, Stripping Down by Sheila Hageman. Before joining Pink Fish Press I served as Editorial Assistant for Andrea Hurst & Associates, where I edited and evaluated novels and book proposals. Last year I assisted in the editing of the book No Buddy Left Behind by Terri Crisp and C. J. Hurn. I am also a member of the NW Independent Editor’s Guild and last November served on my first panel representing the Guild. I’ve taken classes through the Guild with Barbara Sjoholm and Karalynn Ott to continue to improve my skill set.

My debut novel, Sex and Death in the American Novel has been accepted for publication by Booktrope. I am a regular contributor to Seattle’s Indie Arts Journal Line Zero where I report on the writing life and interview authors and musicians. I am active in the local writing community and am a member of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, Just Write on Whidbey and the Whidbey Island Writer’s Association.

I believe that working with editors who are either published authors themselves, or who have worked at high professional levels has made me a stronger writer and a better editor. As a writer I have worked with Laura Kalpakian, Corbin Lewars, Jenn Munro, Marc Polonsky and Alan Rinzler. I continue to network and improve my craft and attend classes and conferences. I have studied with Priscilla Long, Lidia Yuknavitch, and Mark Sundeen to name a few. Since 2007 I have completed the first draft of a novel while participating in National Novel Writing Month. Last year it almost killed me.

I spent the best years of my childhood beneath the skies featured on my site. My simple photos don't do them justice.
